australia just confirmed that anything indeed can happen. i thought lewis moved to ferrari was the maximum of it but apparently not.

today we started with 19 cars (bc williams withdrew logan's to give his car to alex) and finished with 16 cars across the line. ferrari finished 1-2, max dnf, mclaren in top 5, checo only finished p5, britcedes dnf, haas double points, and yuki & lance got points. ferrari have a better car than last year, you can clearly see it from carlos' & charles' smiles, they seem confident that they can close the gap with rbr and it's showing this early in the season (hopefully they can only get closer). same thing with mclaren, they definitely have a much better car than last year, lando and oscar deserve that.

but rest assured that silly season will only get sillier!!! 21 more races plus 6 sprint races (which im not so excited about), 13 unclaimed seats, moving rumors left & right (be it drivers or staff), and other drama. drivers market is going to be chaotic interesting. this is f1 ig.

God, I hope so. It seems like there is always something getting in the way of him winning another Grand Prix. Bad strategy, poorly timed safety car, the tiniest of errors in quali, awful pit stops, mechanical failures, you name it.

I would ask for some luck for Charles, but at the same time, I don't want his wins to be chalked up to luck. He is a phenomenal driver, and his team has been on fire lately with perfect pit stops, good strategy calls, and much better communication. You would think things will have to go Charles's way at some point.

And I so want Charles to be able to shut up all the doubters and nay-sayers. If I see another person bring up his pole-to-win ratio, I may just spontaneously combust. Or how he is inconsistent, doesn't come up with his own strategies like Carlos, that he is weak. Please. All this, along with the abysmal rankings he's been getting, tells me that people have ridiculously high expectations of him and/or see him as a threat.

So yes, I want Charles to win and I want it soon. I'll take Suzuka, please. Although if I must wait until Monaco for the next win, I will.* I would prefer there to be more wins by then already, but if Monaco were to break the drought, it would be all the sweeter. Although it's cheesy, Carlos loves you buy you flowers. All types of flowers in different colors, not just the same basic bouquet of roses over and over again. I don't think people realise how 'cinemantic' and 'match made in heaven' the Ferrari team was. I hated how Charles spoke about Carlos after Spanish GP, but then after the Williams announcement, after weeks of settling into it - I can't imagine how Charles' processing. I'm assuming they were called the dream team - I'm assuing Carlos assumed this was it. He was home. He loved the team, and the team loved him. And it was family. He bought a home in Maranello. He gave up Monaco and his friends and luxury and tax benefits to make sure his team gets back on top. And then carpet pulled, dreams shattered. The first thing he did was move to Monaco. And I think Charles doesn't know how to process that he's leaving. That Carlos won't be there next season. Their girlfriends (exes or current) won't be hanging out - a family of sorts.

He hopes it can be like Carlando. That even after their team mate era they'll be close friends, but I think he knows its different. Mclaren to Carlos was different. Ferrari might have been the dream team to Carlos, but Mclaren was family. Fred isn't Zac, Mclaren isn't Ferrari, and Charles won't ever be to Carlos what Lando is. So he tries with his future teammate - dog dates and parade ride convos. But you can feel he's sick to his stomach thinking about Carlos not being his teammate. You can tell from the first set of interviews. And you can also tell Carlos doesn't try anymore. He doesn't/isn't supposed to help develop the car or strategy. He's moving on. And the magic is dissappearing - we can tell. You can tell. I can tell. Hell, puma motorospot commenting the same on instagram can tell. So maybe he's pushing Carlos away a little. Trying to get that magic to shine on him. But it's disappearing, and people can see Carlos. Bright-eyed. Wronged. And everyone's rooting for him and everyones rallying for him. And anyone who isn't part of the Tifosi, want Carlos to shine. And even a few Tifosi are shedding their red for blue for Carlos, the man from Spain who tried and tried and loved. There's a deep rooted loyalty to him now. Because he's relatable or his situation is relatable - we can do everything right and still be wronged. Carlos doing well means hope - hope we can rise in our lives, hope we can get out of bad situations, hope that not getting what we wanted so desperately still means better opportunity. So people will root for him - deeper and more loyal and more intense. A story about tragedy, betrayal and redemption - and we know how much we love that arc.

So we hope Carlos Sainz shines where he goes. We collectively hope for dream come trues and epic retribution for him.

But sadly we also know that, that means-

When Carlos leaves Ferrari - the magic and glory and hope is going to follow with him.

carlos on the anger of being replaced at ferrari, forgiving, forgetting and understanding

You talk about the shock of that news; was there ever anger?

For sure, I could sit here and say, 'No I wasn't angry with anyone,' but at the time when they give you this news, you're angry, you don't understand it, you curse, you don't understand anything that has happened to you, and obviously you think everything in your life is terrible. But then time cures everything, and you start to accept certain things, and you try to see everything with more of a relative mind, and you start to comprehend and to just adapt and forgive and forget and get on with life - just get on with it. I remember I kept telling myself, 'Just get on with it' and 'Just do your thing.' It's something you need to see more relative as time goes by.

Forgive, forget, do you now understand?

A hundred percent, I think I understood it almost right from the beginning. I think if it had been someone else, I would've taken a lot longer to understand. But when you understand Lewis Hamilton, seven-time world champion, one of the best, if not the best, in history, is gonna replace you at Ferrari, and Lewis has decided to do the last part of his career at Ferrari and you need to be one of the two drivers sacrificed for that to happen, I understand.

I also understand it was never gonna be Charles. Charles has been the project of Ferrari ever since he's been a junior driver. He's been the centre of the project for many years. I arrived to Ferrari more as a substitute of Vettel ... obviously earning my place, but circumstantial rather than Charles, who has been there forever. So I understood; I had to be the one being replaced. I understood it from the beginning, I just obviously didn't agree so much at the time; but you end up agreeing, and you end up getting on with it.

Are you leaving on good terms?

Yes, a hundred percent. Even with Fred, with John Elkann, with everyone involved in that decision. They called me, and I expressed my feelings about it.

Did you tell them what you really thought?

Yeah, of course, with those things I've never backed off; you know, I've always said 'This is what I think.' The same way I told them I understood it, and I explained, obviously, my feelings ... I told them what I thought and moved on and promised them I was gonna give my absolute best for Ferrari even though all this has happened in the last year, and I was gonna keep proving to them that I'm still a big asset for Ferrari. That's what I've been focusing on doing ever since.

Max and Charles taking care of you during a night out, when you’ve drink a little too much.

You look around, trying to find your boys but they are nowhere to be seen, which leaves you wandering around until you find two of their friends, Daniel and Carlos, sitting on a couch talking.

“Hey, boys!” You say, happily, flopping down onto the couch right in the middle of them. You’ve interrupted their conversation but you don’t notice. They exchange looks, which you don’t notice either, and Carlos is up in a second, excusing himself.

“Hey, stranger.” Daniel says, moving closer. “‘What are you drinking?” He tries to take a look at your cup, but you take it to your lips.

"You wanna try it?" You ask him, words slurred.

"Yeah, let me just—" He goes to take the cup from your hands at the same time that you bring it closer to him, causing it to fall on Daniel's lap. "Shit!"

"I'm so sorry, Dani!" You look for something to clean the big stain on Daniel's blue jeans and, with you fuzzy brain, you decide that the only thing that could do the work is your dress. So, you take the hem of your dress, moving even closer to Dani – almost on his lap – not caring about your dress getting dirty.

“It’s okay.” He laughs. If he’s pissed he doesn’t show it, that’s how it always is with Dani. “Y/N, it’s okay!” Daniel tries to move away but you are decided to clean the spilled drink, even if it’s impossible by now.

“What’s happening?” Max’s voice cuts through the air. You lift your head up, eyes glazed over.

“I spilled my drink,” You sniff, looking between your boyfriend and the stain on the boy’s leg. “but Dani won’t let me help him.”

“I don’t think there’s anything you can do, princess.” Charles sits by your side, hands immediately pulling your dress down. “Dani will take care of it, yes?”

Daniel nods. “It’s nothing, really. I have like a dozen of these same jeans.” His big, warm smile makes you feel better. Just a little, you still feel like a fool. “I’ll borrow something from Carlos.” He winks at you before standing up and getting lost.

Max sighs, crossing his arms and staring you down.

“What did we say about mixing different drinks?”

“I was just having fun with Lando.” You pout, looking at your stained dress.

Charles grins and presses a kiss to the corner of your mouth. “What did you drink?”

“Just a few shots of tequila.” You shrug, snuggling closer to Charles. “Oh, did you know he makes this delicious vodka with cranberry juice?”

Max sighs, shaking his head in disapproval. “What else?”

“Your favorite drink.” You look at him beneath your eyelashes.

“Don’t look at me like that.” Max frowns and closes his mouth. “We talked about this.”

“Relax, Max.” Charles chimes in, working his arm around your waist. “She learned her lesson, right?”

You nod enthusiastically, which is a bad idea because it makes you feel dizzy. Max is immediately moving closer, kneeling in front of you.

“Easy there, baby. We don’t want you throwing up in the middle of the living room.” Max strokes your hair and you can’t help but lean into his touch, relaxed.

“Should we go home?” Charles asks him.

“But I don’t wanna go!” You know you always – well, most of the time – get what you want if you pout, so, that’s exactly what you do.

“What? You wanna go back to drink with Lando?”

“Well, no, but I don’t wanna ruin your night.”

“Oh, baby, you’re not ruining our night. We’d rather be with you at home.” Charles kisses your cheek and you giggle, feeling warm.

“Are you sure?”

“Yeah, let’s get you home, pretty girl.”

Max helps you stand up, his arm around your waist to help you walk. Not that you need it, you’re just a little tipsy. But you like it when they act all protective over you. Charles makes sure to let their friends know they are leaving before joining you and Max outside.

You lean against the car, pouting for what feels like the hundredth time in the night. “Can we go to McDonald’s?”
